Cannot live without.....

Well everyone we are almost there!! ONE MORE DAY!!! Let me tell you.... this week the high school kids are OWNING me.

Ms. Barber has seen better days and I am STOKED it is almost the weekend! Don't get me wrong, each day I earn another tough badge to put on my teaching cape, but this week... BLESS!

And all the teachers said AMEN!!

Today I going to share some of my favorite items that I cannot live without. After a long day of teaching, all I want to do when I get home is get in my comfy clothes and relax. You need to honor those items that you cannot live without because those items help you LIVE!!!!

1. Fred and Angi
All YALL in Chicago, if you do not listen to them, you are not real. They make my drive to work worth while and I CANNOT start my day without them. I get mad when we have days off because I will miss a segment from the week and then I am not in on the jokes. I feel like I should be friends with them because I relate to both of them in several ways. They are #squadgoals

2. Lotion and Chapstick
Pat makes fun of me because I have a very diligent nightly routine. Before I lay down, I MUST put on my sleep lotion and some chapstick. In all honesty I will not sleep good if I don't.

                                   3. To-Do list
I know this might sound cheesy, but every day before I head home from work, I make myself a to do list for the next morning. I teach 1st hour and then am off until 10 so I want to utilize my time wisely and cross of my list! No better feeling that finishing a to do list and crossing off TONS on there :)

4. Camera
I invested in a very nice DSLR camera almost 3 years ago. Even though I still need to take some lessons so I can utilize it best, I cannot live without pictures. There are pictures all around our home, my nightstand, my desk at work and our refrigerator. We have albums FILLED as well. Pictures bring back all kids of memories and I am all about those memories :)

5. YETI
OH MY CHILD. Yes I refer to my YETI tumbler as my child. Her name is Betti and she comes with me EVERY DAY to work. She is my go to girl for water throughout the day. Some days I will lecture for 5 periods and she is there supporting me all the way. If you do not own one check out my VDAY post about their tumblers HERE!

6. Good Home Cookin'
As most of you know, a huge part of this blog is all about recipes and fun in the kitchen. I love a good home cooked meal. Whether you can get one on the table a week or five, home cookin' is the BEST. My mom always made amazing dishes growing up and I have taken what she has taught me and brought all my ideas here :) This recipe by far is my FAV that I have shared: Creamy Sausage Rigatoni Pasta

7. Music
Does this even need explanation? In our house growing up we listened to the BEST music. I sometimes worry that when I reference music or bands in class that my students will be CLUELESS as to who I am referring to. I always play oldies when we cook in the lab to make sure these children are well versed in GOOD music.

8. Go-To Comfy Clothes
I know you all have a go to comfy piece. My dad gave me an old Illinois State University basketball sweatshirt years ago and it is my go to piece. Why? Because it is over-sized, warm and reminds me of him! It is the best feeling to change in to comfy clothes after a long day at school!
(PS I know not the best picture but I am actually wearing the sweatshirt in this photo!)

9. Wine
OH BLESS! Yes wine is an item I cannot live without. Do I need it every day? No. Is it nice to enjoy after a busy week or to celebrate with loved ones? Absolutely! As they say in Parks and Rec... TREAT YO SELF!!

10. Socks
You're probably thinking..... um what? BUT let me tell you. I am the type of person even on a hot 90 degree Chicago summer night, I am wearing socks to bed. Cold? Socks. Warm? Socks. Freezing? Socks. Sweating? Socks. There are sock people and then there are not. I am most definitely a sock person. I HATEEEE the dry feeling of my feet against blankets, shoes and my sheets. KB Costco Socks are my go to :) I also do not wear colored socks in public that can be seen. NO WAY. NOT NEVER!!!

So if I were stranded on an Island, I would want these 10 items with me without a doubt :)

We are off to a wine and painting night tonight with some friends! YAY social life is back! See you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites.
